The Chiru (3D User eXperience for Mobile Network Virtual Environments) project exploring the future of 3D mobile internet is a three year research project (2010/7-2013/9) funded by Nokia, Intel and the Finnish national funding agency (Tekes).
The project is focused on providing an improved user experience for mobile 3D Internet users.

Research objectives

The Chiru project will particularly focus on the following three objectives:
  • to develop hybrid 2D/3D paradigms for mobile devices with a strong focus on creating a positive user experience,
  • to adapt network virtual environment (NVE) services to the mobile market,
  • to support the open source community.
