Book Release Seminar - 6LoWPAN: The Wireless Embedded Internet
Internet Protocol technology is quickly becoming critical for low-power wireless embedded applications e.g. for the smart grid, building automation and logistics. In this seminar Zach Shelby gives an overview of his new book on this exciting new application of IP technology and the recent IPv6 over Low-Power Area Network (6LoWPAN) standard. He will give insight into the technical, commercial and standardization developments in this area along with an overview of the main subjects covered in the book: the 6LoWPAN format, network maintenance, mobility and routing and application protocols.
Zach Shelby is a co-founder and Head of Research of Sensinode, a leading IP-based WSN company based in Finland. Earlier he has served as Managing Director and CTO for Sensinode. Before starting Sensinode, he has led wireless networking research at the Technical Research Center of Finland and at the Centre for Wireless Communications, where he is currently completing his PhD.
Zach is actively driving 6LoWPAN related technology standardization, research and commercialization. He is an active participant in the IETF, with activities in the 6LoWPAN and ROLL working groups, ETSI standardization on M2M, and in several top EU research programs. Research activities include 6LoWPAN networking architectures for enterprise applications, low-power application protocols, embedded web services and Contiki. His vision is that the physical Internet - The Internet of Things - is the next big frontier in communications. See Zach's blog at http://zachshelby.org
