ARea14 Conference: workshop, speech and demo 12-13 June

CIE is one of the ARea 14 –Future City as Open Mixed Reality Space Conference organizers in cooperation with the City of Oulu, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and University of Oulu. Prof. Jonna Häkkilä, CIE, will act as a workshop chair in the conference.
Timo Koskela, CIE, will have a presentation “Augmenting everyday life” on the 2nd conference day. His presentation comprises a selection of mixed reality user studies conducted at CIE during the last three years.
FI-WARE demos are also presented in the conference by Arto Heikkinen, CIE. The demonstration showcases AR applications running plugin-free in a mobile Web browser. These applications are implemented using an HTML5/JavaScript AR framework developed in the FI-WARE project. The demonstrations include an application where a 3D model of a house can be viewed from either outside or inside e.g. in the plot where the house will be built on. Augmenting reality with POIs and using markers for placing 3D objects in the environment are also demonstrated.
