Welcome to the ARea 14 event on 12–13 June 2014 in Oulu!
Come and see how Augmented Reality and its near technologies function as a part of the everyday life, marketing, tourism, the operations of museums and libraries, in welfare services and as a tool for learning.
This two day event consist of a workshop day and a conference day meant for people working in the above-mentioned areas and to all who are interested in Augmented Reality and its near technology. Augmented Reality means bringing virtual objects to the physical world.
The ARea conference will now be organised for the third time. The objective of the conference is bring together the operators in the field of augmented reality in Finland. The conference will be organised in co-operation with the City of Oulu, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, University of Oulu and Center for Internet Excellence.
ARea 14 proudly announce Steven Feiner as a keynote speaker:
Steven Feiner is Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University, where he directs the Computer Graphics and User Interfaces Lab, and co-directs the Columbia Vision and Graphics Center. His lab has been doing AR research for over 20 years, creating the first outdoor mobile AR system using a see-through display in 1996, and pioneering experimental applications of AR to fields such as tourism, journalism, maintenance, and construction.
