CIE is a research and innovation unit at the University of Oulu, which combines leading-edge Internet research, innovation processes and new infrastructures, with special focus on emerging 3D technologies.

Research and Innovation

CIE conducts multidisciplinary research on 3D technologies. We do not only focus on doing technical research and development, but also on how new technology and innovations are deployed and experienced. We thus aim to be genuinely multi-disciplinary, and that is what makes CIE distinctive from many other research organizations.

Human-robot interaction research displayed on Finnish TV

A story on the human-robot interaction research, conducted jointly by the Machine Vision Group and the Intelligent Systems Group in the University of Oulu, appeared at Prisma Studio science programme on Finnish tv-channel YLE TV1 on March 23.

The initial Fireball project proposal approved

The European Commission has approved the initial proposal for the Fireball project. The further negotiations to agree on project details will start in March.

The UBI Summer School will commence the UBI-Challenge in June 2010

The findings of the UBI Pilot 2009 will be employed in the iterative design and implementation of the UBI Pilot 2010. The “2nd Open Ubiquitous City Seminar” to take place on 31.5.2010 will introduce the UBI Pilot 2010.
